On June 6th, 33 EMS workers at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington won their union with CWA in an NLRB election by a vote of 24-0. The unanimous win came after months of organizing and preparation by the committed Organizing Committee, supported by CWA District 6 staff. The workers began organizing because of concerns over low pay and being tasked with job duties far beyond their role as healthcare professionals. The EMS Department at Six Flags now joins the over 700 Texas EMS workers who are already in CWA.
The campaign was led by District 6 Organizing Coordinator Seth Hutchinson and Campaign Lead Kendra Williams, with support from Staff Reps Chase Odle and Jose Lozano. Special thanks to President Deb Johnson of CWA Local 6001 who provided critical meeting space for the workers. The EMS workers will now join Local 6215 in Dallas, TX.
IF YOU KNOW ANY EMS WORKERS OR ANY GROUP THAT WANTS TO ORGANIZE, PLEASE LET YOUR CHIEF STEWARD, JOB STEWARD, OR OFFICER KNOW!!
DO YOU KNOW ANYONE AT TI OR GLOBAL WAFER IN SHERMAN???
